New Out of Hours service for South West Hampshire
From September 27 there will be a new number for the Out of Hours service - 0844 811 3060
All health services within South West Hampshire, including GP surgeries, that currently direct patients to the Out of Hours service are being asked to
update the messages on their answering machines and display the new number in preparation for 27 September, when the PCTs in Eastleigh & Test
Valley South, Mid Hampshire, New Forest and Southampton City take over complete responsibility for running a local service, working with Hampshire Ambulance Service who will be providing the telephone triage part of the service.
We were unable to keep the existing out of hour's number as it belongs to Primecare. So the PCT cluster have selected a new number for the service -
0844 811 3060
- which is currently being diverted by Cable & Wireless to Primecare. Between now and 27 September, both the new and old telephone numbers can be used, and will continue to be answered by Primecare in Birmingham. On the 27 September, the number will be switched to Hampshire Ambulance at Winchester. At this time, Primecare will begin to charge the PCTs £12 for each processed call one of our patients makes. To prevent this happening please share this number as widely as possible, ensure you have changed your answering machine message in time and updated all of your display literature.
